Crazy KGPians

Sounds weird right! I can’t help this title as today while driving back from office, I was reminded of this incident. This incident is from the Book, “The IITians” by Sandeepan Deb.

Sandeepan went to IIM Cal after doing B.Tech from IIT KGP. So, he made many friends across all institutes and parts of India. He used to generally go to Mess with one of his good frd who was from IIT Delhi. His frd used to surprise him a lot as every time a girl entered the mess, he could tell even though he sat with his face against the entrance. Sandeepan was impressed with his frd’s intuition and he was kind of curious. So he asks him to explain How does he figure this out? His frd replies, “Sandeepan its very simple, every time I see guys from KGP looking at the entrance for more than few seconds, I know some girl is coming and longer they fix their eyes towards the entrance, the prettier the girl is”…

Another incident of KGP which still makes me laugh is below (Not taken from anywhere its all original).

Year 2000, Spring semester and terror of P. S. Dey (I bet guys who have been taught by him will always remember him for his terror, better known as the smiling terror). So, mess table and all going to attend the Basics in C (though it was not so basic J. There is this guy whom his frd tells to proxy for him. The frd tells ok I will do that as P S dey takes only surprise attendance. Tell me ur roll no and this guys tells him its 9917125…

Now Scene changes, F 116 and time for taking attendance.

9911101..9912102…9912110 (me saying yes sir)….and then 9917125 and that guy tells, “yes sir”.

P S Dey, “who is 9917125”

This guy, “ yes sir”

P S Dey, “ are you sure you are 9917125”

This guy, “yes sir”

PS Dey lastly, “Are you sure you are Ruchi Malhotra?”
