A slightly belated blog

A slightly belated blog and so is the happy birthday wishes of many of my friends. So, with 9 June being the actual birthday, I think its fare enough to stop accepting the belated wishes by 12 of June. The reason for this delay this time is nothing specific, may be really getting into the work at my internship (The other day my advisor was so happy to learn that lastly something has mademe busy), or may be the infatuation with the book “The goal”. I am done with this really great book which I was reading till 2 in the night and made sure that the alarm was set to 6:30 before sleeping at 2.

Last time I was so much into reading was way back in India while reading FPS (Five Point Someone). So, something about the book written by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, a different kind of book which can neither be put in fiction nor in non-fiction. If this sounds crazy to you, then go and read the book. The story in the book is about a Plant Manager, Alex, whose plant is not doing well and so he gets three months time from his Boss to get things in nice shape or else he goes out of job along with the plant. To make the matter worse, Alex has got not an understanding wife and so he and his kids are left alone by her.

He starts getting his plant into shape and in this he is helped by one of his physics teacher, Jonah. With much effort he is able to fit the three corporate words of Net Profit, ROI and Cash flow to the plant level by three Layman words of throughput (Rate at which system generates money through sales and not production), inventory (All the money that the system has invested in purchasing things which it intends to sell), and operational expense (All the money the system spends in order to turn inventory into throughput). Finally, he does more than what is expected out of his plant.

So, this is a must read for all those who want to be a good manager in your life. For all of u, who want to explore more, read the book and you will thank me for sure to recommend this book.
