When the going gets tough...

Today I changed the title of my blog and the inspiration comes from the incident I am narrating here.

I am going to tell u one of the
extempore I gave during my one year Job In coke. We had a two
day workshop on "Presentation and communication" and all of us were given 2 min to speak on any topic of our interest. Here is whatever I can recollect about my speech

"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going"

Dear all

I was born in a village in Bihar which still can't
boast of having electricity or hygienic drinking
water. I know the first thing Bihar reminds these days
is Laloo prasad Yadav. But thats not what Bihar is all
about. Bihar is all about all those people who have
changed the disadvantage of Bihar as their advantage.
Go to any IIT in India and every third person is from
Bihar. Bihar is to successfull Biharis what NDA is for
the defence force personnel. Defence personnels are
trained to overcome all the difficulties in their
life. In similar manner Bihar gives those tough
conditions to its people which transform them into a
tough man.

I am aware of the fact that Many people from Bihar
feel shy about their being from Bihar. But I think
they should be rather be proud of being from Bihar as
I am. I have an argument to support my proud. Today I
am working in Coca Cola India after getting a degree
from IIT. That means I am at par with those guys who
got education in DPS RK Puram even thoug I had no such
nice education to support me. Thus, I have worked
harder to reach where I am, which makes me better off
with the people who r my colleagues.

Thus I remain by saying

"When the going gets tough, the tough gets going"

Hope u buy my argument :)

Well said Prabhat!

In the long run a person is defined by his virtues and accomplishments and not by what he is born as/with. The true measure of a man are his achievements in the face of adversity.

Its a shame that today Bihar is identified by the likes of Laloo and Rabri instead of many hardworking, honest and smart Biharis like you. It is people like you who will have to change Bihar and give it a better image.

Good luck!

Dude... all is well except that it can also be understood as that bihar does not need to change/improve as it produces tough citizens just as NDA produces tough officers. I find that difficult to buy.

Well said Vaibhav, but only concern I have NDA produces 100% tough officers whereas Bihar produces, may be .001% tough citizens. If all even 50% of the citizens fight and become tough then ofcourse we dont need to change Bihar. Hope I can sell this argument to u.

hi dear its amazing.i m almost speechless.......but i would rather like to share my experience in bihar that was awful.its the curbing of ur freedom which in any case does not interfere on infringe on the liberty of others which i found frustrating...........anyways drawing from ur narratives i honestly feel that there is something i can really appreciate about bihar.but in similar vein i think a collective effort is a prerequisite on my part 4 the kind of image i have envisioned 4 bihar-one where everyone entitled to a dignified life.take care
